Some poems from Francesca Guli to wrap up National Poetry Month 2017

 What better way to wrap up National Poetry Month 2017 than with some poems from Nazareth alum, former faculty member and "poet-in-residence" Francesca Guli?

The following poems are from Verity Fair 1945 and 1946, courtesy of the Library archives.  Verity Fair (otherwise known as Verity Faire or Verity) was Nazareth College's long-standing literary magazine.  Send us an email if you'd like to see more items from Verity Fair!  You can also read more about it on page 30 in the Winter 2011/12 issue of Connections.

Your Guide to Study Spaces in the Library

Finals are almost here!  It's a good time for a refresher on the different study spaces available to you in the library and what you can expect.

If you like a good amount of background noise, there are some areas in the library that get a lot of traffic and are rarely, if ever, completely quiet.  These areas include the library foyer and the computer stations on the main floor.

We also have "considerate study" areas.  These areas are somewhat, but not completely, quiet.  This is because they are adjacent to staff offices or otherwise have features that keep them from being very quiet.  Some are downstairs...

...and some are on the main floor. 

We also have some group study rooms.  These are good if you know you'll be working with others on a project or studying together with conversation.  But remember these rooms are not sound-proof, so keep your neighbors in mind!

It's also handy to remember that these rooms are first-come, first-serve.  But please don't 'camp out' in them all day, because other people will want to use them, too!

We also have "quiet study" areas.  These are the places to use if you really need a quiet space to study, and you know that you won't be talking to anyone else while you're studying.

Bonus:  Did you know that students can use the Library Instruction Room to study when there is no class currently being taught?  It's a great, quiet place to study and there are 19 computers and 3 whiteboards!

• Libraries need your help, so consider getting involved by talking to your elected representatives about the importance of libraries to your community.
• Take time to reflect on how a library or librarian has helped you achieve something in life.  Then share that knowledge with someone else!

Above all, go out and enjoy your libraries!
